How we score Youkey Q7 + L11-4Ks
AZNO's editorial feature-and-portability score is 7.9/10, with 80% assessed rubric coverage. It describes the named configuration, not clinical image quality, diagnostic accuracy, reliability or value for money.
| Criterion | Weight | Grade / 10 | Weighted points | Evidence for this configuration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Supplied imaging formats | 20% | 5.0 | 1.00 | One supplied linear head. Available but unpurchased heads excluded. Manufacturer source |
| Imaging and Doppler functions | 25% | 8.0 | 2.00 | Platform documents B, M, color, power and PW; confirm these in the L11-4Ks offer. Manufacturer source |
| Processing and smart tools | 20% | Unassessed | Excluded | Exact-kit processing/smart-tool entitlement unassessed. Manufacturer source |
| Indicative scanning runtime | 20% | 10.0 | 2.00 | Brochure claims more than four hours; uses 240 min as the documented lower threshold. Workload not independently measured. Manufacturer source |
| Probe-only weight | 15% | 9.0 | 1.35 | 160 g with a linear head in the platform specification; host excluded. Manufacturer source |

Calculation, not a mystery number
Score = sum of assessed weighted points ÷ assessed weight. For this review: 6.35 ÷ 0.80 = 7.9/10 after final rounding. Missing criteria receive neither zero nor an invented neutral grade; they are excluded and the coverage is disclosed.
Partial evidence — read the unassessed criteria before comparing totals. A score can move substantially when missing kit specifications are confirmed. Coverage is the percentage of rubric weight assessed, not a probability of accuracy.
Shared grading anchors
The same five weights and thresholds apply to all ten reviews. A higher feature score is not automatically the right device for a specialist's workflow.
- Supplied imaging formats · 20%
- 5: one format; 8: two; 10: linear, convex and phased. Optional unpurchased heads do not count. A focused specialist is not necessarily a worse purchase.
- Imaging and Doppler functions · 25%
- 6: documented B/2D, M and color; 8: those functions plus PW; 10: PW plus CW/TDI. Unverified kit entitlements remain unassessed. This measures function breadth, not image quality.
- Processing and smart tools · 20%
- 7: documented harmonic, compound or advanced image processing; 10: documented automated measurement or guidance in the reviewed entitlement. Unknown tools are unassessed, not absent. This does not score algorithm accuracy.
- Indicative scanning runtime · 20%
- 5: below 60 min; 6: 60–89; 7: 90–119; 8: 120–179; 9: 180–239; 10: 240+ min. Use the conservative end of a range; an up-to figure remains a maximum. Host-powered and probe-powered scenarios are not equivalent tests.
- Probe-only weight · 15%
- 10: ≤150 g; 9: >150–200; 8: >200–250; 7: >250–300; 6: >300–350; 5: >350–400; 4: >400 g. Do not substitute display/system weight for probe-only weight.
How to compare: match intended examinations, included probes, software entitlement and host first. Compare ready-to-scan package cost separately. Runtime claims use different workloads; probe-only weight excludes displays/accessories. Small numerical differences are not demonstrated clinical performance differences.
Unified on October 13, 2026: this shared rubric replaces the two earlier batch methods. Recalculated totals may differ from earlier versions. Prices, customer anecdotes and unverified electrical draw do not enter the numerical score.
What are you buying?
Q7 is a modular handheld system: a common body accepts interchangeable transducer heads. This review specifies the Q7 body with the L11-4Ks linear head, rather than treating every advertised application as part of one package. Esaote identifies Youkey as the CE-marking manufacturer and Esaote as importer and distributor. Country and configuration restrictions apply. Esaote Q7 overview
For a practice centered on superficial imaging, that configuration is the relevant starting point. For broader use, decide which additional heads are needed before comparing costs. Esaote's human-use store lists L11-4Ks for vascular, small-parts, breast and musculoskeletal applications, specifying 6–12 MHz and a 40 mm linear footprint. The frequency should be taken from that specification, not guessed from the model name. Esaote configuration list

Documented specifications
With a linear head, the published weight is 160 g and dimensions are 150 × 40 × 25 mm. The platform offers six physical buttons and lists B-mode, M-mode, PW Doppler, color-flow Doppler and power Doppler. Wireless operation supports iOS, Android and Windows; USB data transfer is limited to Android and Windows. Confirm the particular device and app version before purchase. Q7 technical overview
Esaote's brochure claims more than four hours of scanning and startup in under five seconds. These are advertised figures, not timings measured for this review. The modular design allows the transducer head to be changed while retaining the same body. Official brochure

Image quality and user evidence
The linear specification makes this a reasonable candidate for a superficial-imaging demonstration. It cannot establish fine-detail resolution, low-flow sensitivity or dependable needle visualization by itself. Nor does a gallery image prove what a new operator will obtain in a difficult examination.
Ask for a demonstration using the exact L11-4Ks head, app and display in the quotation. Compare images at the depths you actually use, and include movement and Doppler clips. Check whether button placement, gain adjustment and saved-image review remain comfortable with gloves. If an additional head is being considered, test the changeover and repeat the same workflow checks.
Positive social-media comments
No verified human-use owner report matched to the L11-4Ks kit was established. In an undated veterinary MyLab Pocket Q7 trial, Dr Camilla Edwards reports reliable connection and image saving; this is not evidence of image quality for the reviewed human-use kit.

Negative social-media comments
The same veterinary trial reports jumpy depth changes, fiddly measurements and accidental button presses. The head SKU, app version, ownership and trial-payment arrangements were not verified. These are demonstration questions, not established limitations of the human-use L11-4Ks kit.

Feedback context and limitations
Manufacturer demonstrations and unrelated kit testimonials are not a satisfaction survey or proof of equivalence to a larger system.

Software and disadvantages
Esaote UK has described Q7 as subscription-free. That regional statement is helpful, but the written offer should still identify included imaging modes, application packs, future updates and support. Avoid assuming that every software feature shown in marketing is enabled in every package. Esaote UK statement
The published DICOM conformance statement documents image storage and modality worklist services; printing support is Windows-specific. Have IT test the actual PACS connection before accepting the system. Q7 DICOM statement, version 1.1
Modularity introduces purchasing and handling decisions: extra heads need their own budget, cleaning process and storage. A single linear-head quote should not be represented as a complete cardiac-and-abdominal setup. The USB platform restriction also matters if a wired fallback is essential.

Approximate price and what it covers
On 13 October 2026, Esaote's Italian store displayed €3,150 excluding VAT for the main body and required adding at least one probe. That figure is not the verified price of this L11-4Ks kit. Its package FAQ lists the selected head or heads, charger, adapter, country pack, case, printed manual, Windows-software flash drive and one-year warranty. Comparison at a glance
Q7 is worth evaluating when lightweight handling and configurable probe choice fit the work. Its value depends on the exact package and a successful demonstration, rather than the lowest advertised body-only price.
- This Q7 configuration: a specified linear head with room to add other heads later.
- A fixed dual-array design: compare convenience when switching anatomy frequently.
- Another dedicated linear probe: compare image results, controls, support and total ownership cost.
Care and support
Request the current reprocessing instructions for each head and the shared body, approved consumables, battery-service terms and software support horizon. Have the supplier identify the local service party and any return or replacement obligations.
