How we score Sonoscanner U-Lite PRO
AZNO's editorial feature-and-portability score is 7.0/10, with 40% assessed rubric coverage. It describes the named configuration, not clinical image quality, diagnostic accuracy, reliability or value for money.
| Criterion | Weight | Grade / 10 | Weighted points | Evidence for this configuration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Supplied imaging formats | 20% | 5.0 | 1.00 | One selected linear probe; 11 available transducers are not 11 included heads. Manufacturer source |
| Imaging and Doppler functions | 25% | Unassessed | Excluded | Unassessed: system-level Doppler list does not establish exact linear-kit entitlements. Manufacturer source |
| Processing and smart tools | 20% | Unassessed | Excluded | Unassessed: common checklist and exact purchased entitlement not established. Manufacturer source |
| Indicative scanning runtime | 20% | 9.0 | 1.80 | Up to three hours on current US/French pages; English-page discrepancy retained in the review. Manufacturer source |
| Probe-only weight | 15% | Unassessed | Excluded | Unassessed. The 600 g published system figure is not probe-only weight; ready-to-scan kit mass also needs confirmation. Manufacturer source |

Calculation, not a mystery number
Score = sum of assessed weighted points ÷ assessed weight. For this review: 2.80 ÷ 0.40 = 7.0/10 after final rounding. Missing criteria receive neither zero nor an invented neutral grade; they are excluded and the coverage is disclosed.
Limited evidence — do not rank this total against fully assessed devices. A score can move substantially when missing kit specifications are confirmed. Coverage is the percentage of rubric weight assessed, not a probability of accuracy.
Shared grading anchors
The same five weights and thresholds apply to all ten reviews. A higher feature score is not automatically the right device for a specialist's workflow.
- Supplied imaging formats · 20%
- 5: one format; 8: two; 10: linear, convex and phased. Optional unpurchased heads do not count. A focused specialist is not necessarily a worse purchase.
- Imaging and Doppler functions · 25%
- 6: documented B/2D, M and color; 8: those functions plus PW; 10: PW plus CW/TDI. Unverified kit entitlements remain unassessed. This measures function breadth, not image quality.
- Processing and smart tools · 20%
- 7: documented harmonic, compound or advanced image processing; 10: documented automated measurement or guidance in the reviewed entitlement. Unknown tools are unassessed, not absent. This does not score algorithm accuracy.
- Indicative scanning runtime · 20%
- 5: below 60 min; 6: 60–89; 7: 90–119; 8: 120–179; 9: 180–239; 10: 240+ min. Use the conservative end of a range; an up-to figure remains a maximum. Host-powered and probe-powered scenarios are not equivalent tests.
- Probe-only weight · 15%
- 10: ≤150 g; 9: >150–200; 8: >200–250; 7: >250–300; 6: >300–350; 5: >350–400; 4: >400 g. Do not substitute display/system weight for probe-only weight.
How to compare: match intended examinations, included probes, software entitlement and host first. Compare ready-to-scan package cost separately. Runtime claims use different workloads; probe-only weight excludes displays/accessories. Small numerical differences are not demonstrated clinical performance differences.
Unified on October 13, 2026: this shared rubric replaces the two earlier batch methods. Recalculated totals may differ from earlier versions. Prices, customer anecdotes and unverified electrical draw do not enter the numerical score.
Review scope
Document-based review. No AZNO hands-on testing or measured image-quality score is claimed.
What are you buying?
The U-Lite PRO broadens the handheld comparison beyond phone-connected probes. Sonoscanner's system has its own seven-inch display and interchangeable transducers. The manufacturer describes an EasySwitch physical probe connector; its Wi-Fi, 4G and Bluetooth connectivity should not be represented as proof of wireless probe-to-phone scanning. This is a dedicated-screen handheld system, with the exact probe and connection assembly to be named in the offer. [U1, U2]
For this review, the comparison configuration is the U-Lite PRO with the Linear Array Full HD transducer. This keeps a later price comparison from silently assuming that every available probe is included. Other probes should be treated as separate options.
Documented specifications
The US product page lists a seven-inch screen, a 600 g system specification, 11 available transducers and a 6–18 MHz, 50 mm Linear Array Full HD option. It also describes a Doppler package including Color, Power, PW, CW, TDI and transcranial Doppler. Those system-level modes do not mean every selected transducer supports every application; require a probe-by-mode entitlement list for the ordered kit. [U1]
Its published 600 g figure must not be placed beside another brand's probe-only weight as though both describe the same complete setup. Ask for the ready-to-scan weight with your transducer, cable and protective accessories.
Battery and documentation differences
The current US page and French product page describe up to three hours of operation. An English manufacturer page still quotes four hours. This review uses the three-hour regional statement as a planning reference, with the discrepancy explicitly unresolved. Neither number is an AZNO endurance test or a guaranteed shift duration. Ask which software, probe and workload support the figure on your written offer. [U1, U2, U3]
A dedicated display reduces dependence on a personally owned phone, but the buyer still needs a plan for battery service, software support and data transfer. Clarify charger supply, battery replacement procedure and the cost of a replacement display unit.
Image quality and feedback context
Sonoscanner promotes its Retina+ processing and automated measurements. Their presence does not demonstrate better diagnostic performance than another handheld. Assess image adequacy, controls and handling in a supervised demonstration with qualified staff.

Positive social-media comments
Mathieu Duquesne, commenting publicly on Sonoscanner's U-Lite PRO announcement, says he uses it in daily emergency/anesthesia practice and appreciates startup, probe choice, battery adequacy and images. This is self-reported use on a manufacturer's post. Exact configuration, ownership, affiliation and comment date were not independently verified.
Negative social-media comments
no sufficiently verified U-Lite PRO-specific negative owner report was found in this limited search. That is an evidence gap, not proof that users have no problems. Documentation and workflow limitations below are AZNO's purchasing analysis, not invented testimonials.
Disadvantages, limitations and tradeoffs
The separate screen and interchangeable-probe arrangement have different carrying and setup demands from a wireless phone probe. A practice needing multiple applications should count the actual probes, transport case and accessories it will carry. A broad system catalog is useful only if the required configuration is affordable and available locally.
The French page describes local storage, USB DICOM export and SonoReplay cloud functions. Ask which are included, what needs connectivity, and what happens to access and export if a service plan ends. Your institution should approve data handling before patient information is used. [U2]
Approximate price and what it covers
No exact public price was verified for the U-Lite PRO plus Linear Array Full HD kit. Sonoscanner's US site directs buyers to a personalized quote. Request separate amounts for the display, selected transducer, Doppler/measurement packages, case, dock, software/cloud services, training, warranty and delivery. [U1]
The US service page describes training, remote support and software updates, but does not establish that every service is included indefinitely in every purchase. Get the duration, renewal terms and response arrangements in writing. [U4]

Buying value and AZNO's assessment
Consider U-Lite PRO when a dedicated display and interchangeable-probe workflow are more useful than relying on a phone. Compare the exact kit against the tablet-based Kosmos configuration, rather than assuming that either system's headline feature list is included in a base offer:

Introduction year and unit manufacture date
A dated manufacturer announcement documents U-Lite PRO by January 24, 2024; this does not establish its first introduction year. Introduction year remains unverified. Primary dated/model source
The manufacture year of an individual unit is unknown until the seller supplies its serial/identification label and supporting documentation. A product launch date is not a unit manufacture date.
