How we score EchoNous Kosmos Mobile
AZNO's editorial feature-and-portability score is 8.4/10, with 100% assessed rubric coverage. It describes the named configuration, not clinical image quality, diagnostic accuracy, reliability or value for money.
| Criterion | Weight | Grade / 10 | Weighted points | Evidence for this configuration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Supplied imaging formats | 20% | 5.0 | 1.00 | One phased-array format in Torso-One. Cardiac and abdominal applications are not two different array formats. Manufacturer source |
| Imaging and Doppler functions | 25% | 10.0 | 2.50 | Configured PW/CW/TDI and color capabilities; regional and probe entitlements must match. Manufacturer source |
| Processing and smart tools | 20% | 10.0 | 2.00 | Configured Auto EF / AI FAST workflow tools; presence is not an accuracy test. Manufacturer source |
| Indicative scanning runtime | 20% | 9.0 | 1.80 | FAQ iOS AI/CW example: about three hours, exact tablet unspecified. Optional Link 3–8 h not used. Manufacturer source |
| Probe-only weight | 15% | 7.0 | 1.05 | 275 g Torso-One only; tablet, cable/accessory exclusions require full-kit comparison. Manufacturer source |
| Final editorial score | 8.4/10 | 100% assessed coverage · round only the final result | ||
Calculation, not a mystery number
Score = sum of assessed weighted points ÷ assessed weight. For this review: 8.35 ÷ 1.00 = 8.4/10 after final rounding. Missing criteria receive neither zero nor an invented neutral grade; they are excluded and the coverage is disclosed.
Shared grading anchors
The same five weights and thresholds apply to all ten reviews. A higher feature score is not automatically the right device for a specialist's workflow.
- Supplied imaging formats · 20%
- 5: one format; 8: two; 10: linear, convex and phased. Optional unpurchased heads do not count. A focused specialist is not necessarily a worse purchase.
- Imaging and Doppler functions · 25%
- 6: documented B/2D, M and color; 8: those functions plus PW; 10: PW plus CW/TDI. Unverified kit entitlements remain unassessed. This measures function breadth, not image quality.
- Processing and smart tools · 20%
- 7: documented harmonic, compound or advanced image processing; 10: documented automated measurement or guidance in the reviewed entitlement. Unknown tools are unassessed, not absent. This does not score algorithm accuracy.
- Indicative scanning runtime · 20%
- 5: below 60 min; 6: 60–89; 7: 90–119; 8: 120–179; 9: 180–239; 10: 240+ min. Use the conservative end of a range; an up-to figure remains a maximum. Host-powered and probe-powered scenarios are not equivalent tests.
- Probe-only weight · 15%
- 10: ≤150 g; 9: >150–200; 8: >200–250; 7: >250–300; 6: >300–350; 5: >350–400; 4: >400 g. Do not substitute display/system weight for probe-only weight.
How to compare: match intended examinations, included probes, software entitlement and host first. Compare ready-to-scan package cost separately. Runtime claims use different workloads; probe-only weight excludes displays/accessories. Small numerical differences are not demonstrated clinical performance differences.
Unified on October 13, 2026: this shared rubric replaces the two earlier batch methods. Recalculated totals may differ from earlier versions. Prices, customer anecdotes and unverified electrical draw do not enter the numerical score.
Review the configuration, not just the Kosmos name
EchoNous Kosmos Mobile deserves a configuration-specific review. A clinician investigating cardiac Doppler has different requirements from someone focused on superficial vascular access. The first buying question is which probe, tablet and software features the proposed package actually includes; the product name alone does not answer it.
Documented capabilities
The official Kosmos Mobile page describes an iPad Air or Pro-based package, a carrying bag and a choice of probes. It presents PW and CW Doppler, TDI, Color Doppler and AI tools including Auto EF and AI FAST. EchoNous explicitly notes that features vary by market. Verify the exact probe, version and locally available functions instead of assuming every illustrated tool works in every package.

Positive social-media comments
Positive comments: Reddit u/Detroitblu33 recalls favorable cardiac images and software when sampling Kosmos.

Feedback context and limitations
The generation and probe are not specified: this is not a direct test of today's Kosmos Mobile/Torso-One package. The separate Kosmos_by_EchoNous account is apparently brand-affiliated, not an independent owner. Neither comments nor AI-feature presence establishes clinical superiority.

Disadvantages, limitations and tradeoffs
Documented compatibility limitation: EchoNous says phones cannot power these probes; a compatible tablet is required. Bridge Torso-One and iOS/Android Torso-One are different platforms/connectors and must not be treated as interchangeable.
Configuration tradeoff: tablet and any Link accessory add weight and charging obligations beyond the 275 g Torso-One. Buying advanced Doppler/AI functions that you do not need may not create value. Older sampled-Kosmos comments are not a controlled test of the present Mobile configuration.

Buying value and AZNO's assessment
Request an itemized quote separating probe, tablet, accessories, enabled tools, training and service. If advanced Doppler or workflow functions are important to your work, have their availability demonstrated before comparing the total with a more basic handheld. If you will not use them, a larger feature list by itself does not create value.
AZNO takeaway: Kosmos Mobile is a candidate for buyers whose requirements align with its documented configuration and Doppler/AI workflow. Purchasing value depends on the needed functions actually being available in your market, on an acceptable complete quote, and on a successful task-specific demonstration. Older prices, informal warranty assertions and broad 'only handheld' claims are not used as verified purchasing facts here.

Approximate price and what it covers
Quote required: no verified approximate price for this exact kit
EchoNous does not publish a price for the exact Kosmos Mobile Torso-One iOS package reviewed here. The official Mobile package describes an iPad Air or Pro, carrying bag and selected probe configuration; the exact iPad and licensed-feature terms need an itemized offer.
No approximate range is invented from a bare probe, Bridge system or an unclear reseller bundle. Ask for the complete Torso-One iOS kit, required AI/Doppler entitlements, accessories, currency, delivery, tax and support.

Comparison at a glance
| Criterion | Documented information | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Probe weight | Torso-One: 275 g. This figure is for that probe, not the complete Kosmos Mobile kit; Lexsa is a separate probe option. | EchoNous Kosmos technology: probe weights |
| Technology profile | Torso-One phased-array configuration with PW/CW/TDI capability and supported AI workflows. Features must match the selected probe, software and market. | EchoNous FAQs: platform and probe differences |
| Battery in the probe | Kosmos probes operate from a compatible tablet's output power; the tablet/optional Link power arrangement determines endurance. | EchoNous FAQs: platform and probe differences |
| Runtime | No universal Mobile-kit duration: the FAQ gives an iOS AI/CW example of about three hours. Optional Kosmos Link: 3–8 hours depending on scan modes, per the iOS 5.0 guide. | EchoNous FAQs: platform and probe differences; Kosmos iOS user guide v5.0, Kosmos Link electrical specifications |
| Charging | Optional Link: about two hours from 0–90%. This is a Link accessory figure, not a probe or all-tablet specification. | Kosmos iOS user guide v5.0, Kosmos Link electrical specifications |
| Electrical consumption | Link's probe-output rating is 5 V ±5%, maximum 2.5 A—not a measured average scan power. No typical operating wattage is asserted. | Kosmos iOS user guide v5.0, Kosmos Link electrical specifications |
Runtime tests are not directly comparable. Wired systems draw from the host/power accessories. Unknown typical watts remain unknown; capacity and output ratings are not measured consumption.
