Brand and exact model

Esaote is an Italian-origin medical-imaging company founded in 1982 within Ansaldo. [1] Its portfolio covers ultrasound, dedicated MRI and healthcare IT. [1] This review covers MyLab Omega eXP for human general imaging; a precise first-launch date was not verified. The original Omega, CV Edition and VET configurations must be identified separately.

What you are buying

MyLab Omega eXP belongs on a shortlist for buyers who want a transportable console with a broad probe catalog and established documentation for connecting examinations to other systems. The strongest evidence here concerns its offered functions. Battery-included weight, comparable unplugged scanning time and the exact purchase configuration remain unresolved. AZNO has not performed hands-on or comparative clinical testing.

Esaote describes both trolley use and carrying the system to the patient, with battery operation and a multiconnector capability. These statements support its portable positioning, but do not establish a measured carry weight or an all-day internal-battery runtime. [2]

For the general-imaging comparison, request the console, identified internal battery pack(s), charger, one convex probe, one general-purpose linear probe, B/M/color/PW capability, required DICOM/export licenses and a stated warranty. This is AZNO's reference package, not a confirmed factory bundle. Cardiology buyers should obtain a separate quote with the appropriate phased-array probe and cardiac software.

Specifications, controls and probes

The manufacturer lists C 2-9 convex, LX 3-15 and IH 6-18 linear, E 3-12 intracavity and PX 1-5 phased-array examples on the current model page. The list supports a broad compatibility discussion; local authorization, software compatibility and inclusion in the quoted kit still need confirmation. [3]

A current, configuration-specific primary technical sheet establishing the precise control-panel SKU was not retrieved. Do not use a photograph or a dealer's generic Omega specification to settle touchscreen size, pointing-device variants or cleaning compatibility. AZNO prefers a physical trackball plus touchscreen, but that is an editorial preference rather than evidence that every clinician will find it easier. Ask the supplier to weigh the demonstrated console with its stated internal batteries and without probes, charger or cart. Record the travel-case total separately. During a battery test, use the department's normal probe, brightness, Wi-Fi setting and B-mode/Doppler workload. A maximum-runtime claim without those conditions cannot support a fair ranking.

Technology and software

The brochure describes XCrystal transducers and Augmented Insight automation, with named capabilities including AutoCM, AutoEF, AutoOB, eDetect, ElaXto, CnTI, microV and VPan. Their appearance in marketing material does not mean every feature is licensed in every system. [2]

Ask for an entitlement list alongside the quote. Have the demonstrator show the required modes on the actual proposed probes and explain when automated measurements need correction. For specialized applications, obtain the locally applicable intended-use information. A feature name alone does not establish clinical validation or comparative superiority.

Storage, export and service

Esaote describes e-Streaming, MyLabRemote, MyLabDesk and review of second-modality DICOM datasets. [2] Its current product page links DICOM Conformance Statement C7.23W; that document is dated January 13, 2026 and includes the MyLab Omega platform. It documents storage and worklist behavior but still needs matching to the delivered software and enabled options. [3, 4]

Usable local examination capacity was not verified. Ask for installed drive capacity, space available for studies, supported still/cine/report exports and the recovery process after an interrupted transfer. Test a de-identified examination against the intended PACS before acceptance. Also request the current operating-system version, security-maintenance policy and support end date; brochure language about connectivity or compliance does not replace those checks.

Image quality and genuine user evidence

No attributable independent review of a clearly identified human-use Omega eXP configuration was verified in this research pass. Research using Omega eXP VET and dealer demonstrations were not substituted for human-use owner feedback. This is an evidence limitation, not a finding that the machine produces poor images or that no reviews exist.

The most useful next evidence is a supervised demonstration with the exact proposed probes and representative examinations. Evaluate penetration, near-field detail, Doppler sensitivity and consistency across operators. A curated manufacturer image gallery cannot settle those questions for the department's workload.

Approximate price and what it covers

On October 14, 2026, Remma displayed an Omega eXP offer labeled brand new, year 2026, at EUR 21,695 excluding VAT. It advertised standard European shipping and a one-month Remma warranty. The offer did not establish the convex-plus-linear reference kit, required licenses or manufacturer warranty. Treat it as a public marketplace asking price, not Esaote's list price or a complete comparable package. [5]

The short marketplace warranty deserves clarification before comparing this offer with a dealer-supported system. Request the seller's identity, exact probes, software release, battery health, installation, training, service arrangements and all taxes or shipping charges in writing. Veterinary packages and older Omega listings should remain outside this human general-imaging price comparison.

Limitations and practical tradeoffs

The documented probe and connectivity options make the system worth a tailored demonstration. The main buying risks are unclear kit contents and insufficiently specified portability evidence. Neither a lower headline price nor a longer feature list establishes better value until the same clinical and service requirements are priced on both sides.

AZNO buying verdict

Consider MyLab Omega eXP when a versatile portable console and connection to existing imaging workflows matter more than a headline portability claim. The purchase decision should follow an exact-kit demonstration, battery test and itemized regional quote. Current evidence supports evaluation, not a best-in-class verdict.
